Baba

Baba is a name with African origins. The meaning of Baba is 'baby' and 'a spiritual man', but also 'someone who is born on a Thursday'. According to Indian tradition, a young man can also be affectionately nicknamed Baba. In some parts of India, people also call their fathers or grandfathers 'baba' as a sign of respect. It is pronounced phonetically as 'ba-ba'. Though it is traditionally given to boys, it can also be given to girls. In Sumerian legend, Gulu was a goddess with the head of a dog and was also known as Baba.
