An afternoon in a beer garden is a fantastic way to chill out and take in your surroundings. While you're likely to find a pub around every corner you turn in the city, pub gardens in London can be hard to find. So, if you're excited to get back to the pub this summer, read on to find some great places to visit - we've covered the whole of London so you're bound to find one close to you!
One of the great secret gardens in London, this is the perfect spot to enjoy an ice cold drink on a hot summer's day.
Where? 90 Cromwell Rd, South Kensington, London SW7 4ER.
Nearest tube station: Earls Court.
Main reason to go: The venue is a lovely and quirky place, with the back garden being a beach theme- including real sand. Flip-flops and beach towels are available on request making it an awesome change from city life.
Price range: Priced quite highly.
Size of the outdoor space: Quite large and plenty of sun beds available.
This converted pub has a luxurious purple velvet lounge bar, library-themed dining room and yet another beach bar style terrace!

Nearest tube station: Sloane Square.
Main reason to go: This pub has a huge selling point in the shape of a luxuriant heated garden, which is great as the night rolls in. It is very smart and well maintained, and, of course, perfect for photo opportunities.
Price range: Prices are moderately high, but in line with what you would expect from the area.
Size of the outdoor space: Medium sized with lots of tables.
Refurbished old pub with wood-panelled walls, a beer garden, real ales and a seasonal food menu.
Where? 114 Campden Hill Rd, Kensington, London W8 7AR.
Nearest tube station: Notting Hill Gate.
Main reason to go: With a section of the pub designated to dining, you'll find the garden has a great atmosphere full of families and people keen to cool down with a cold beer.
Price range: Priced quite reasonably for the area.
Size of the outdoor space: Medium sized.
18th-century coaching inn with terrace and balcony bar, over the road from Hyde Park.
Where? 66 Bayswater Rd, Bayswater, London W2 3PH.
Nearest tube station: Paddington.
Main reason to go: This pub is located in an old London building that dates all the way back to 1721. There's a fabulous view, and the pub has managed to maintain lots of its old character.
Price range: Priced competitively.
Size of the outdoor space: Quite a small terrace but expected for the area.
A private and bushy outdoor space on oak decking, serving an Anglo-European menu.
Where? 41 Bramley Rd, Notting Hill, London W10 6SZ.
Nearest tube station: Ladbroke Grove.
Main reason to go: The garden is quite spacious, with lots of tables. It feels very cosy, with lots of greenery and fairy lights when it gets dark.
Price range: Affordable.
Size of the outdoor space: Large and sheltered, with a cosy and quiet feel.
Large local pub and beer garden with namesake tree, serving a Modern British pub grub menu.
Where? 30 Southwick St, Tyburnia, London W2 1JQ.
Nearest tube station: Paddington.
Main reason to go: Their tree feature in the garden is definitely their most prized possession, which is so unique and a real talking point. It's got great reviews and has a lovely atmosphere.
Price range: Priced competitively.

We all love an Irish bar don't we? Well this one has a conservatory, beer garden and no less than seven plasma screens for showing sports!

Nearest tube station: Mornington Crescent.
Main reason to go: An authentic pub and bar with an outside space, that is just off the beaten track from the busy Camden scene.
Price range: Priced quite highly.
Size of the outdoor space: Medium.
Modern North London pub with a Mediterranean-style menu and a decked outdoor space with its own bar.

Nearest tube station: Farringdon.
Main reason to go: A splendid garden and alfresco space complete with its own bar and BBQ area. It has a really chilled-out vibe, finished off with fairy lights and there's plenty of comfortable seating.
Price range: Prices are on the higher end, but reasonable for the area.
Size of the outdoor space: Small and cosy.
Modern British comfort food at elegant family-friendly Georgian pub with extensive garden.
Where? 10 Thornhill Rd, Islington, London N1 1HW.
Nearest tube station: Highbury and Islington.
Main reason to go: When the weather is nice, it’s great to hang out at the front or back garden. Tables are spaced out and there is lots of room for large families.
Price range: Priced affordably.
Size of the outdoor space: Very large and spacious.
Slickly-designed, minimalist Modern British gastropub with big windows & a canal-side alfresco bar.
Where? 3 Granary Square, Kings Cross, London N1C 4BH.
Nearest tube station: Kings Cross.
Main reason to go: It's only a 5 minute walk from Kings Cross, and it has great views that overlook Granary Square and the canal, perfect for kids who are happy to bring their colouring or enjoy people watching.
Price range: Affordable.
Size of the outdoor space: Small yet scenic.
A relaxed, colourful garden cocktail lounge, with a welcoming comfort food diner.
Where? 231 Battersea Park Rd, Battersea, London SW11 4LG.
Nearest tube station: Wandsworth Road.
Main reason to go: The Magic Garden is a very quiet pub with beautiful murals and garden. They've got a lovely outdoor area decorated quite quaintly, with a selection of board games too. They also play live music on some evenings.
Price range: Affordable.
Size of the outdoor space: Large outdoor area with sofas and covered parts (perfect for all weather!).
A large gastropub with Victorian features and a terrace, courtyard and summer garden, serving classic British dishes.
Where? 16 Balham Hill, Balham, London SW12 9EB.
Nearest tube station: Wandsworth Common.
Main reason to go: The Avalon comes alive in the summer, and is perfect for winding down at the weekend or catching up with the sports.
Price range: Priced reasonably.
Size of the outdoor space: Large outdoor space, very well laid out with many different features and areas to sit.
A large, multi-roomed gastropub in a beautifully leafy area of South London, with a massive beer garden that has an outdoor bar and kitchen!
Where? 39 Sydenham Hill, Dulwich, London SE26 6RS.
Nearest tube station: Sydenham Hill.
Main reason to go: The Dulwich Woodhouse is a nice family friendly pub in Dulwich with an excellent beer garden. The outdoor beer garden has a really great feel, with green turf and beach shacks giving it a seaside vibe. The outdoor bar means that you can leave the kids to play and order drinks whilst being able to watch over them.
Price range: Priced reasonably.
Size of the outdoor space: Fairly large with quite a few tables.
A traditional pub since 1832, but recently renovated and now turned chic with exposed brick and vibrant cushions, serving British cuisine and local beers.
Where? 38 Tooting High St, Tooting, London SW17 0RG.
Nearest tube station: Tooting.
Main reason to go: Both the inside and outdoor garden are huge and the decor is beautiful. The outdoor area is amazingly styled with ample seating and perfect for kids to play.
Price range: Prices are generally quite high for the area.
Size of the outdoor space: Very large!
A cosy local on a quiet square with front and back terraces and refurbished original details, a little retreat from the hustle and bustle of Brixton high street.
Where? 45 Trinity Gardens, Ferndale, London SW9 8DR.
Nearest tube station: Brixton.
Main reason to go: There are two areas of seating but our favourite is towards the rear of the pub where their secret beer garden is - complete with covered seating & fire pits.
Price range: Fairly for the area.
Size of the outdoor space: Relatively small - would recommend booking.
The Captain Kidd is a pub in Wapping, East London that is named after the seventeenth century pirate William Kidd, (who was executed at the nearby Execution Dock).
Where? 108 Wapping High St, Wapping, London E1W 2NE.
Nearest tube station: Shadwell DLR.
Main reason to go: This Thames-side pub is a highly atmospheric spot, with a vintage feel, plus a cobbled terrace and benches running along the river wall providing the best seats outside the house. The views are of Canary Wharf are heavenly on a sunny day.
Price range: Reasonable for the area.
Size of the outdoor space: Relatively small but a beautiful spot.
Small pub with discreet nautical theme, small food menu and a patio garden with retractable roof - perfect for whatever the British weather throws at you.
Where? 60 Greenwich Church St, Greenwich Peninsula, London SE10 9BL.
Nearest tube station: Greenwich.
Main reason to go: It is a really lovely pub in an amazing location, with a big beer garden, with plenty of space for kids to play in the day time. Cosy and well decorated with ample shade too.
Price range: Priced fairly high.
Size of the outdoor space: Quite large and a great space.
A small and quirky pub with ornate tiling and ceiling, offering a classic pub menu for families to enjoy in their beer garden.

Main reason to go: Great selection of food and during the summer there are barbecues in the large rear garden.

Great rooftop bar in the summer. This hidden gem is a lovely place to chill out and look over the Thames. Access is via the bright yellow concrete stairs.
Where? Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, Bishop's, London SE1 8XX.
Nearest tube station: Waterloo,
Main reason to go: A moment away from the hustle and bustle in a relaxing rooftop oasis, perfect if you've spent the afternoon walking
Price range: Affordable for the area.
Size of the outdoor space: Quite small.
Breakfast, grills and burgers in an arts centre cafe, set in a former chapel with its own garden at the back.
Where? 269 Westferry Rd, Isle of Dogs, London E14 3RS.
Nearest tube station: Isle of Dogs.
Main reason to go: This converted Victorian chapel is now one of the friendliest pubs in the Isle of Dogs. Perfect for architecture lovers who wish to share their passion with their kids.
Price range: Priced reasonably for the area.
Size of the outdoor space: Medium-sized with lots of benches.
