Huaxiagnathus was a type of theropod dinosaur of the Early Cretaceous. The name Huaxiagnathus is derived from the traditional Chinese word for 'China', Hua Xia, and the Latin word, gnathus which means 'jaw'. Their fossils were discovered from the Yixian Formation in Liaoning Province. Another specimen was also discovered from the same formation.
Huaxiagnathus is pronounced as 'Hwax-ee-ag-nath-us' and the alphabet 'H' is silent.
The taxonomic classification of Huaxiagnathus places the genus in the Compsognathidae family but they were larger in comparison to the dinosaurs of that group.
Huaxiagnathus roamed around the Earth during the Early Cretaceous period.
It is unknown when exactly they went Extinct.
Huaxiagnathus were native dinosaurs of China.
They lived in terrestrial habitats ranging from forests to coastal lands.
Fossils of multiple specimens have been discovered from the Yixian Formation of China which suggests that these dinosaurs probably herded together.
Their lifespan is unknown.
Huaxiagnathus were oviparous in nature.
The fossils of the Huaxiagnathus suggest that the dinosaur genus was the most basal genus of the compsognathid. However, they were different from other compsognathids with regard to the premaxilla. Teeth of these dinosaurs suggest that they were carnivorous in nature.

The genus Huaxiagnathus is almost known from a nearly complete skeleton. Almost every part of the skeleton has been recovered except the end of the tail. However, it is not known how many bones they possessed.
They communicated by vocalizations.
Huaxiagnathus was 6 ft (1.8 m) in length. They were similar in size to the Nuthetes.
As Huaxiagnathus were large dinosaurs, they probably could not run very fast. However, their speed is unknown.
The weight of a Huaxiagnathus has not been determined.
The male and female species of this genus were collectively called Huaxiagnathus.
A baby Huaxiagnathus is called a hatchling.
Huaxiagnathus was a carnivore in nature. It was quite an aggressive carnivore since there's evidence that they preyed and survived on small dinosaurs apart from reptiles and mammals. Hence, they are considered deadly.
Huaxiagnathus were larger in size suggesting that they were more developed than other dinosaurs.
