FOR ALL AGES
Wicked has been on stage in London for over 13 magical years, and with good reason. The spellbinding show tells the story of what happened in Oz before Dorothy arrived, and trust us, there is a lot to tell! It’s not all just wizards and witches though, the musical has underlying themes that help teach some important lessons to kids and adults alike! Here are 7 things we learned from Wicked!
The huge opening number of the show is a simple reminder of how important it is to just be a good person! It also encourages us to reach out to people, whether they seem lonely or sad, we should always support each other!
When the two main characters, Glinda and Elphaba, first meet, they definitely aren’t the best of friends. However, as time goes on they realise perhaps their initial impressions were wrong and it’s important to get to know a person before you judge them.
The show has some intense songs but there are some brilliant more light-hearted ones as well! Dancing Through Life is one of those numbers and reminds us to do exactly that! Try and dance through life no matter what happens.
Just like in the real world, Oz has some people in it who will let you down. As frustrating as that is, Wicked shows us how to pick ourselves up, deal with it and use it to make us better people!
Glinda is known for being popular but as the musical goes on, we realise that isn’t everything. Meanwhile, we see that when Elphaba is entirely herself and doesn’t care what people think, she is happier than ever.
Wicked is all about being passionate and fighting for what you believe in, regardless of what obstacles stand in your way. You’ll definitely leave feeling inspired and ready to defy gravity.
People will come and go from your life but some of them will change you, hopefully for good. It’s important to learn from others and grow from the relationships we experience so that we can become our best selves!
