Book your tickets for the award-winning show that’s got everybody talking! An inspirational, theatrical treat, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie teaches children about overcoming prejudice, beating the bullies and stepping out of the darkness into the spotlight in the most fun way possible. Follow the story of sixteen-year-old Jamie who lives on a council estate in Sheffield with his mum. He doesn’t quite fit in and is terrified about the future. But one thing is for certain, Jamie is going to be a sensation. Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, he overcomes bullying and proves that dreams can come true! You don’t want to miss this!
What started out as a documentary on BBC Three in 2011: ‘Drag Queen at 16’, is now a highly-acclaimed, knock out, West End show - Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre in the heart of London. Oozing with life and colour, it’s the perfect tale for tweens and up!
Move and groove in this epic two-hour and 40 minute show featuring numbers written by Dan Gillespie Sells, lead singer-songwriter of The Feeling! With songs including Don’t Even Know It, Wall In My Head, Spotlight, Work Of Art and He’s My Boy - the title track, you’re bound to be singing them all week!
Despite having all the laughs of any great comedy and all the sillyness of a great tweens show, something that makes Everyone’s Talking About Jamie so uniquely special is that it’s a truly meaningful tale about important issues that contemporary society faces. It tells an important tale about overcoming bullying, adversary and of course, fabulousness and is a great way to introduce youngsters to ideas about LGBTQ in a light-hearted way. Parental discretion is advised - the show does contain some strong language and mild sexual references, so it’s much better suited to mature children and teenagers to avoid lots of awkward sniggering between the laugh-out-loud moments!
With eccentric, colourful costumes and a brilliantly designed multi-purpose set that helps bring the whole tale to life, you simply won’t be able to take your eyes off the stage. Be transfixed by the orchestra, who are ever-present in the background, backlit to resemble a working office space and be engrossed by the spectacular cast who make it look effortless!
That’s enough of hearing about Everyone’s Talking About Jamie - now it’s time to go and see it with your own eyes! With tickets from just £24.00 on Kidadl, you’ve got no excuse not to don your most fabulous outfit and head on down to the Apollo Theatre.
